Tempest Chronicles

I enjoyed this novel a great deal. The gaming aspect was there but did not overtake the narrative. The characters didn't spend time looking at stats and constantly trying to level. Even the minor quests are just a brief mention and do not intrude on the story. Excellent.

Interesting story. Similar to others in the genre but enough differences to keep me guessing and looking forward. Minimal editing errors and the syntax was also good throughout. The author shows his knowledge of roleplaying through the details he provides. Interesting use of technology in what is essentially a fantasy setting...or is it? I'm looking forward to how the author sneaks in more Sci-Fi. First time that I've read this author and as soon as I finish this review I'll be getting the next book in the series and maybe some others. I'm 63 years old and I read Sci-Fi (space opera & military) , fantasy, thriller, adventure, mystery, and a smidge of other stuff on occasion. I'm a long time gamer (1981) mostly AD&D but the occasional Sci-Fi based, Super Hero based &, at 1 point, even Boot Hill. Keep up the good work Jeremy!

One of my favorite themes is that of life after death in a simulation. Legend of the Sword Bearer takes it to a completely different level, with amazing action-packed LITRPG.

I enjoyed the character development of this team of heroes. Hoping for a kickass female team member as well, like original sword bearer had on team. Good interaction in team. Can't wait to discover answers to some of the mystery behind who chosen to send.

I really enjoyed the author's LitRPG elements and can say this comes from a gamer's perspective. It's a great read.

Please don't pass on this because of the LitRPGPodcast lukewarm review. Think YA+? Just a good ol' fashion, swashbuckling (swords and pointy weapons are present), fantasy LitRPG story with some really fun characters. The main party group is pretty much a perfect band of brothers. Loved every Ashley appearance. Morogan is likely to be one of my all time favorite characters. The author does an excellent job of blending several eras of deities, lifestyles, and technology into the "necessary" LitRPG tropes. Kudos. Leveling seems to be different. 5 is a milestone point rather than the usual 10 and it appears to really slow done after that. Possibly due to large raid parties and consistent enemy levels? Party members can share skills somewhat freely. A lot of power and stats comes from gear. Can an MC be too OP if the other characters aren't far behind? There is the expected battle violence, but the author doesn't dwell on graphic descriptions. Kind of a nice change after so much of that in other books. I've never been partial to zombie apocalypse scenarios, but this aspect hasn't been a deal breaker. If this was a movie, I would have been grinning, clapping, and cheering during the lobster scenes. 🙌 I'm glad I didn't bypass this book. I was never bored. So many positive GR ratings and so few reviews posted at Amazon. That really hurts an Indy author, so please consider doing an Amazon review.

Ashley's life takes an unexpected detour to become a member of the main character group. She transitions from the child side of 13 years to the maturity of battle competent fire mage. She's justifiably angry but not hardened due to the love and support of the truly caring and special role model adults in her life. They honor her youth while helping her step into her talents. Without that stability, her losses could have left her foundering. Okay, y'all! Jeremy gave us more Ashley, so we should give him some actual Amazon reviews to go with those GR ratings? Please? Kind of fun that the author says this book happened because he'd written a character the fans didn't want left behind. Ah, the hazards of skilled craftsmanship... Even the little pieces are too bright and shiny to toss aside.

I really enjoyed this book. Jeremy brought a lot of good ideas to the LitRPG scene. I have read a considerable amount of the genre and I have to say I like what wrote. All the characters are well done. I really like the inside jokes the characters have as well. Really good book. I would highly recommend.
